Lukasz Konieczny

Opera bass-singer, born in Lodz, Poland. 
Lukasz Konieczny graduated from the Karol Lipinski Academy of Music in Wroclaw, Poland. He took part in numerous master classes conducted by such opera singers and teachers as Christian Elßner, Deborah Polaski, Gundula Hintz, David Syrus, Jane Henschel, Linda Watson, and Franz Grundheber. Lukasz Konieczny also took part in acting classes at the International Film School in Cologne, Germany. He was awarded a special prize during the International Song Contest in Istanbul, in 2010. Between 2009 and 2011 Lukasz Konieczny was involved in productions of Opera Studio in Düsseldorf Opera House. Since 2011 he has been a soloist of said opera house. In 2010, during the opera festival in Reinsberg (Austria), Lukasz Konieczny made his debut as Polyphem in Handels Acis and Galatea , directed by Michael Sturminger (John Malkovich in Casanova) with Orchestra Wiener Akademie conducted by Martin Haselböck. Lukasz Konieczny gained considerable success playing the role of Polyphemus in the stage premiere of Acis i Galatea by Handel during the fesitval Ekhof in Gothain co-production with the international Händel fesitval in Halle 2013.

His repertoire includes more than fifty opera roles. In 2015, the singer debuted with great success in the role of Rocco Beethovens Fidelio in Mainfranken theatre in Würzburg. During the 2015 Malta Festival in Poznan Konieczny played 
Dr. Behrens in the world premiere of the opera Magic Mountain by Pawel Mykietyn, based on Thomas Manns novel. Lukasz Konieczny also regularly performs in concerts. An important event in Luklaszs career was singing bass during Stravinsky’s Les Noces at the international piano festival Klavier Ruhr in 2013. He also sung bass in the Polish Requiem by Krzysztof Penderecki during the Polish Music Festival in Krakow 2014. During the 2015/16 artistic season Lukasz Konieczny performed in Düsseldorf Opera House as Truffaldino in Strauss’s Ariadne auf Naxos Straussa, Crespel in Offenbach’s Les contes d’Hoffmann, Masetto in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Sparafucile in Verdi’s Rigoletto and Zuniga in Bizet’s CarmenIn 2017 Lukasz Konieczny will have made his debut as Barone Douphol in Verdi’s Traviata at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich.
