Kamen Chanev


Kamen Chanev was born in Bulgaria. He graduated at Sofia music conservatory and later at Accademia Musicale in Rom. He worked with renowned teachers as Alexandrina Milcheva, Ghena Dimitrova and Leone Maggera.
Kamen Chanev has been awarded at the Jusii Björling singing competition among others.
He debuted at Sofia Opera as Rigoletto, followed by parts as Werther, Almaviva, Lensky, Edgardo, Tonio, Alfredo, Belmonte among others.
His repertoire includes the Duke in Rigoletto, Radames in Aida, Manrico in Il trovatore, the title role in Don Carlo, Riccardo in Un ballo in maschera (Verdi), the title role in Faust (Gounod), Werther (Massenet), Cavaradossi in Tosca, Calaf in Turandot, Des Grieux in Manon Lescaut, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly (Puccini), Don Jose in Carmen (Bizet), Turiddu in Cavalleria rusticana (Mascagni), Canio in Pagliacci (Leoncavallo).

He performs regularly at the Vienna Staatsoper as well as in the opera houses of Sofia, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Seoul, Palma de Mallorca, Amsterdam, Rome, Lisbon, Munich, Hamburg, Catania, Graz, Tokyo, Antwerp, Berlin, Dortmund, Beijing, Venice, Barcelona, Dublin, Frankfurt, Valencia, Budapest, Warsaw and others.
Past engagements include Riccardo and Cavaradossi in Tel aviv, Calaf at Deutsche Oper Berlin and Montreal, Riccardo at the Staatsoper Berlin, Turiddu in Ancona, Don Carlo in Frankfurt and Seville, Manrico in Budapest, Cavaradossi in Savonlinna, Calaf at Deutsche Oper Berlin among others.
Current and future engagements include Manrico at St Gallen Festival, Radames at Opera Stara Zagora, Calaf at Toronto opera and Sofia as well as Roberto at Opera de Limoges and Calaf at Lithuanian National Opera.
