Mihails Čuļpajevs current and future projects include Narraboth and Lensky at the Finnish National opera, der Fremder in Das Wunder der Heliane and Narraboth at Deutsche Oper Berlin, Iwolgin in The Idiot at Theater an der Wien, Arturo in Lucia di Lammermoor at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, his debut as Adorno in the Simon Boccanegra new production of the Latvian National Opera as well as Alfredo in Traviata and Camille in Merry Widow among others.
Born in Riga, accomplished his professional studies in music high school in operatic singing. Mihail Culpajev did traineeship in Holland, in conservatory of Maastricht and gained experience as choir member in several opera productions. Mihails Čuļpajevs mentors are Axel Everaert, Christine Gailite and Margaret Gruzdjeva.
Since 2013 he is soloist member at the Latvian National Opera, where performs among others the parts of Adorno – Simon Boccanegra, Alfredo – Traviata, Truffaldino – Love to 3 oranges, Camille de Rousillon – Merry Widow, Alfred – Die Fledermaus, Don Ottavio – Don Giovanni, Melot – Tristan und Isolde, Malcolm and Macduff – Macbetch, Lensky – Onegin, Remendado – Carmen, Ernesto – Don Pasquale, Ramiro – Cenerentola, Steuermann Der Fliegende Holländer, Basilio and Don Curzio – Le Nozze di Figaro, Charles – Das lange Weihnachtsmahl, Il Messaggero – Il Trovatore, Aleksejs – Valentina, Maestro di Ballo/Edmondo – Manon Lescaut, Rolfs – Sound of Music, Arlekin – (Beppe) Pagliacci, Tamino – The Little Magic Flute, Cīps – Putnu Opera.
In 2016 Mihails has been nominated best young artists of the year in Latvia.
