Mezzosoprano

Czech Mezzo-soprano Ester Pavlů is one of the most promising singers of the young generation, she achieves success not only at home, but mostly abroad. She is a regular guest of the National Theater Opera and the State Opera in Prague, where she made her debut as Laura in the opera Three Pints by Carl Maria von Weber in 2011. Here she also presented herself to the audience as Donna Elvira in Donna Giovanni, the Second Lady in The Magic Flute, the second Wood Nymph in Rusalka, Fenena in the opera Nabucco.

Her big debut at the Czech National Theater was in 2022 in the title role of Bizet’s Carmen, which she still performs today. Currently, she also performes here in a production of Schwanda the Bagpiper as the Queen or in the opera Cavalleria rusticana as Santuzza. This season, she will appear in Prague as the Foreign Princess in Dvořák’s Rusalka under the baton of Tomáš Netopil.

This season he made his debut at the Vienna Theater an der Wien in the role of the Ice Queen. 
She graduated from the Faculty of Music of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague under Helena Kaupová. She completed master classes under the guidance of Aprile Millo, Peter Dvorský, Eva Randová, Gabriela Beňačková and José Cura, with whom she also performs regularly until today. In recent years, she is being vocally led by Slovak baritone Vladimír Chmel.

She also often perfroms abroad. At the Teatro Lirico theater in Cagliari, she performed Dvořák’s Biblical Songs, completed a large concert tour with the Prague Symphony Orchestra to Great Britain with Mahler’s Symphony No. 3 and in 2021 she had a concert tour in the USA (New York, Chicago, Cedar Rapids, Atlanta) with a repertoire of Czech author songs. In 2019 she made her debut in Sofia, Bulgaria as Angelina in Rossini’s Cinderella, in the Slovak National Theater she made her debut as the Foreign Princess in Rusalka. With the Slovak Philharmonic she gave a concert performance of the 2nd act of the opera Tristan and Isolde by Richard Wagner where she sang the role of Brängene. She performed as the Queen in Jaromír Weinberger’s Schwanda the Bagpiper in Graz, Austria. In 2022 she debuted in Basel as Santuzza, and in 2023 year she debuted in Riga, Latvia as Eboli in Verdi’s opera Don Carlos.

She collaborated with a whole host of great conductors (J. Bělohlávek, P. Inkinen, P. Popelka, F. Chaslin, J. Cura, A. Jurkevyč, E. Dovico, M. Guidarini, J. Valčuha, F. Agudin, R. Jindra, M. Comin). She recorded several recordings. The recorfing of the opera What Men Live By under the baton of J. Bělohlávka, in which she created the role of the Old Woman, was nominated for the International Opera Award and won the Czech music prize Anděl in the classical music category.
