Bass baritone
Seokju Hong is a South Korean bass-baritone currently pursuing his Master’s degree in Opera at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (MDW). His repertoire spans from the classic depth of Mozart and Rossini to the lyrical expressiveness of Tchaikovsky, including arias such as Madamina, il catalogo è questo, La calunnia è un venticello, and Gremin’s Aria.
On stage, he has performed roles such as Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte), Don Alfonso (Così fan tutte), Colline (La Bohème), Antonio (Le Nozze di Figaro), Herr Reich (Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor), and Simone (Gianni Schicchi), among others. His recent appearances include productions at Schönbrunn Theater and the Vienna Musikverein.
A laureate of the Daegu Competition (2nd Prize) and finalist of the 2025 Hedda Urbani Competition, Hong began his artistic journey at Chugye University for the Arts, where he earned his Bachelor of Music. His warm timbre and expressive artistry continue to earn him recognition on both South Korean and European stages.
