Yuliya Pogrebnyak
Soprano
Yuliya Pogrebnyak was born in Simferopol, Ukraine. She graduated with distinction in 2015 and finished Assistentship course in 2020 at National Music Academy of Ukraine, Kyiv in the classes of professors Evdokiya Kolesnyk and Valentyna Kochur.
In 2019 soprano took part at Académie de l’Opéra de Monte-Carlo program in Monaco. In 2022 Yuliya participated at Sequenda Opera Studio, Luxembourg and at the master-classes of Melanie Diener and Thomas Hampson as part or International Opernwerkstatt Waiblingen, Germany. In 2023 she attended in the Academy for young opera singers at the Teatro Comunale Pavarotti-Freni in Modena, Italy, where she studied under mentorship of Barbara Frittoli, Mariella Devia, Michele Pertusi, Ernesto Palacio. Yuliya also took part at master-classes with Marina Mescheriakova, Dmitry Vdovin, Sergei Leiferkus, Cynthia Makris, Anna Samuil, Natalie Dessay.
She made her debut as Euridice in Gluck ’s «Orpheus and Euridice» in the Opera Studio of the National Music Academy of Ukraine in 2015, which was followed by the role of Marfa in Rimsky-Korsakov’s «The Tsar’s Bride».
In 2020-2021 she performed Pamina in Mozart’s «Die Zauberflöte» and Micaela in Bizet’s«Carmen» in the Opera studio of the National Music Academy.
In 2021 Yuliya took part in the Elena Obraztsova Foundation’s Academy in Moscow, where she performed La Bergère, La Chouette in Ravel’s «L’Enfant et les Sortilèges» under the baton of Dmitry Korchak.
Yuliya Pogrebnyak has been a guest soloist at the Lviv National Opera and Kyiv Municipal Opera and Ballet Theater in Ukraine, where she portrayed Donna Anna in Mozart’s «Don Giovanni» in 2019-2020. She also made her debut with this role in Italy at the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza in 2022 and in Germany at the State Theater of Saxony in 2023. In the same year she celebrated her debut as Leonora in Verdi’s «Il Trovatore» in Teatro Duse, Bologna, Italy.
Yuliya Pogrebnyak participated in important music events and festivals all around the world. In 2023 she performed title role in Malipiero’s «Ecuba» in the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza as part of Festival «Vicenza in Lirica». Recent projects include La Cuisinière and 2 Poems by Balmont in Stravinsky’s «Le Rossignol et autres fables» in Adelaide Festival 2024, Australia.
Yuliya has been awarded at several competitions, including special prize for the best interpretation of Estonian art song of 12th Klaudia Taev Competition, Estonia 2021; Third place in IV European opera competition «Torino in the world», Italy 2022; First prize of Concorso Lirico Tullio Serafin, Italy 2022; First prize, Premio della Critica Concorso Lirico Premio Koliqi, Italy 2022. She won the second prize and the special prize as role of Violetta Valery in Verdi’s «La Traviata» in Premio Fausto Ricci, Italy. In 2023 she reached the final in Meistersinger von Nürnberg singing competition, Germany and in 2024 semi-final of Tenor Viñas Contest, Spain.
Yuliya Pogrebnyak worked with stage directors and conductors such as Stefania Panighini, Kai Anne Schuhmacher, Marina Bianchi, Robert Lepage, Daniele Rustioni, Gianna Fratta, Ekkehard Klemm, Matteo Parmeggiani.
Repertoire includes roles as Marguerite («Faust»), Liu («Turandot»), Mimi («La Boheme»), Countess Almaviva («Le Nozze di Figaro»), Tatiana («Eugene Onegin»), Fiordiligi («Così fan tutte»)etc., as well as chamber works.
